Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our profile. First and foremost, we want to express our deepest empathy and compassion as you explore the possibility of adoption. We understand this journey for you is filled with a depth of emotions that goes beyond mere words. Although we could never fully understand how you are feeling at this moment, we hope to provide a sense of comfort knowing your baby will join a loving family that will celebrate their origins.

If you decide to choose us as adoptive parents, your baby will be welcomed into a stable and loving home. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where a child can grow, learn, and explore the world around them. We will encourage their passions and support their dreams, always guiding them with patience, kindness, and understanding. From Ivan, they will learn to explore the world through an empathic and artistic lens. From Niko, they will learn the wonders of science and music. And from both, this child will learn boundless love and acceptance.

Your child will be welcomed into a supportive and expansive family all across the country, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are all excited to embrace them with open arms. They will join a multicultural family and experience all the rich traditions we share. We are filled with gratitude for the possibility of welcoming your child into our lives through adoption.

With compassion,
Ivan + Niko

About Us

Hi! We are Ivan and Niko, and our story began with an instant connection five years ago. During the first few dates, we both established our mutual goals, one of which was expanding our family. Ivan is currently a school counselor at a TK-5th grade public school and enjoys supporting all of his students so they can build the skills to succeed. Niko is a rocket engineer at an R&D company and professor of engineering at a university. Together we enjoy taking our dogs out on walks, trying new restaurants, going to the movies, and spending time with our families. Ivan enjoys making art and trying new mediums. Niko likes reading science fiction and fantasy novels and building elaborate LEGO sets. Living in southern California allows us to take advantage of the weather by exploring new sites, going hiking, visiting farmers markets, and seeing comedy shows, musicals, etc.

Our Home & Pets

We are two blocks from an elementary school and a lush park with a playground. Our town is very suburban, with shopping malls and restaurants, and caters to the family. Every year there are carnivals, music festivals, movies in the park, and performances at the community playhouse. We also have the luxury of being a quick drive to more urban city centers, offering a more diverse cultural experience. We have two very sweet and cuddly dogs: Lilo (14 years old), a toy poodle and perpetual lap dog, and Jellybean (one year old), an energetic and playful cockapoo. Both of our girls love being around people.

Our Extended Family

On Niko’s side, there are three siblings (two younger brothers and a sister), three cousins, and five nieces and nephews (one to ten years old). On Ivan’s side, there is one sister and dozens of cousins. We love hanging out with the nieces and nephews and playing dress-up, doing fun science experiments, watching Disney movies, and playing games.

We have family dinners as often as we can, grilling carne asada in the backyard while playing card games and listening to music. We have annual trips with our family and travel to new places together; we’ve been to Wyoming, Alaska, New England, and more.

Our families mean the world to us. When we got married, all of our extended family showed up to celebrate our love and commitment, with our sisters walking us down the aisle and Niko’s brother acting as the “flower dude” (throwing flower petals while walking our dog, Lilo).

What Led Us To Adoption

We are excited about the prospect of providing a loving and stable home for a child. As gay men, the idea of building a family based on love, acceptance, and inclusivity is incredibly important to us. Over the last several years, we have made choices that align with creating a safe, stable, and nurturing home. Our decision to adopt is rooted in our commitment to sharing our lives with a child and providing them with a loving and supportive environment where they can thrive. We have seen firsthand the positive impact that adoption can have, both through friends and family members. We’re eager to embark on this journey and to open our hearts and our home to a child in need of love and care.
