dear expectant mother

I am so grateful for your consideration and for all you are doing to make sure your child has an incredible life! The world is lucky to have them, and your child is so blessed to have a mother making decisions for them out of deep love.

As you consider the options available and the path that may be best for your child, I want you to know I’m praying for you and for your happiness and health, not just your child’s. I hope that whatever choices you make for your child also lead to an amazing life ahead for you.

As I think about bringing a child into my life, I’m filled with excitement and hope, but I also feel nervousness and of course some fear, and I imagine you may also be feeling all these things and then some. In the midst of all these emotions, I hope you’ll feel trust and peace. I hope to have the chance to prove, in both small and big ways, that you can trust me, and I assure you that your child can trust me as well. I hope you’ll see me as a true partner, on your team, 100% on board, and ready to do whatever is needed to make sure your child is given the absolute best.

No matter what, we are going to make sure your child will be loved unconditionally, given every opportunity possible, and cared for always, without exception. If I’m blessed enough to get to help you with that mission, I promise to be the best teammate you could ask for.

I am so grateful for your consideration and for all you are doing to make sure your child has an incredible life!

About Me

Hi there! I’m Mitch! I grew up in Virginia and came down to North Carolina for college in 2007. I was a baseball player growing up, and sports have remained a big part of my life. During college, I helped start a sports technology company. I worked crazy hours throughout my twenties to help grow our business as Chief Operating Officer, and in 2021 I moved to Madrid and then London to lead our international expansion. Now I’m back in the U.S. and still working in sports, although with a much more flexible schedule. Outside of work, I like to be outside as much as possible. You’ll find me golfing, hiking, out for a run, getting in a workout at the gym, or catching up with friends for a back porch dinner. I speak French, I’m trying (maybe not succeeding) to become a better cook, and I love to travel, so a road trip is always on the table!

My Home & Pets

I live in a city in North Carolina with my puppy, Louie. Our house is a two-bedroom home with a big back yard with plenty of room for a playground! I love my neighborhood. My house is next door to a community garden and is within walking distance of parks and coffee shops and the big downtown public library. The area is safe, and on any given day, you’ll see kids playing in yards, dogs being walked on sidewalks, and neighbors having an end-of-day drink on their porches. The neighborhood has attracted an incredibly diverse community. We’ve got folks of all different ages and races and the houses are all unique, so there are people in all kinds of different financial situations living on the same street. I plan to stay here for the long term.

My Extended Family

I grew up in a big and really close family. My sister and I are great friends, and she and her husband have a two-year-old daughter. My niece and I are best buds, and I love being Uncle Mitch.

I have six cousins who are more like siblings than cousins. We all grew up together and talk or see each other all the time. Some of them have started having kids of their own, and we’re all located in either North Carolina or Virginia.

My mom (“Grams” to my niece) and I are very close. She visits often and is retired after a long career caring for the elderly, so now she’s a full-time grandma.

The whole family is together frequently—for all the holidays, the kids’ birthdays, our annual summer beach trip, and just the random dinners, hikes, brewery trips, and movies that come up throughout the year. We’re a big sports family, so you can often find us at one of the kids’ soccer games, softball practices, or swim meets.

What Led Me To Adoption

I’ve always known I wanted to be a dad and started thinking seriously about adoption back in 2018. Family is the most important thing in my life–-I’m so lucky to come from a big, loving family—and I can’t wait to provide that for a kid that deserves the world. Because I’m gay and currently single, biological fatherhood isn’t in the cards, and as I thought and prayed about what my family might look like, I kept being pulled back to adoption. My mom used to say that a parent’s job is to make sure their child is happy, healthy, and safe, and I know I am 100% ready to do that.
