dear expectant mother

We want to welcome you into our lives. We realize you will probably be reading and sifting through many letters like ours as you consider adoption for your child. Although this letter will only provide you a glimpse of our lives, as you read this letter, we want you to envision your child living in OUR home—a home where there will be unconditional love, celebrations of triumphs, and support during the setbacks. We are downright silly and loving all wrapped up together. Your child will be surrounded by a loving brother and dads and by a large extended family with countless cousins for your child to play with.

We realize the decision to place your child for adoption is the greatest challenge you will ever have to face. Should you select us to be the parents for your child, please know we will provide a loving and nurturing family. Please also know we will always tell your child they have a selfless and loving mother who gave us the greatest gift by making the greatest sacrifice. We truly hope you allow us to take this adoption journey with you.

Eternally grateful,
Joel, Juan and Jasper

About Us

Hello! We are Joel and Juan. We met in 2000 at a get-together with friends and have been together ever since. We have a home in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Fall is beautiful here, and we embrace the seasonal changes with our favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas. We enjoy working on our fruit and vegetable garden, and we love to travel to many countries around the world. We enjoy getting together every weekend with the family as well as lazy Sundays and movies. Joel relaxes by reading mystery novels, and Juan makes his own home decor, from curtains and cushions to stuffed animals for our son, Jasper, whom we adopted four years ago, and the younger nieces and nephews. We love board games, puzzles, playing hide and go seek, and being silly with our son. We want to take in everything around us and create beautiful and memorable experiences.

Our Home & Pets

We live in northeastern Pennsylvania, 1.5 hours from New York City. Many families move here because there are many things to do with children. There are parks and many outdoor activities to do as a family, such as Appalachian trails, skiing, zipline parks, canoeing, and indoor and outdoor waterparks. We enjoy being outdoors and can’t wait to hike and kayak with Jasper and his new sibling. Our home is the only house at the top of a mountain, surrounded by lush trees. It has three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. We have a finished basement we hope to convert into a playroom for our child. Our eight-year-old shih tzu, Luna, is always up for our adventures.

Our Extended Family

We come from very large families that are very supportive. There are always enormous amounts of family all the time. We have a huge celebration on Christmas Eve that includes a dinner with over fifty family members. We cannot wait to share that experience with a second child. In our culture, even our cousin’s children become our nieces and nephews. We see no separation at all in that; they all get treated like our children. We have countless nieces and nephews between the two of us. We are the uncles that babysit and the uncles who have sleepovers with sheets and chairs to make forts.

Our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt a second child. They are already wishing and speaking this baby into existence for us. This baby, like our son Jasper, will not only be loved and adored by us but will be loved and adored by both our families.

Our Adoption Story

After many years together of wanting children and not being able to naturally have any, we decided to adopt and were able to adopt our son Jasper in 2020. Jasper immediately became the love of our lives and our families’ lives. Our family has greatly become enriched by our son, and we cannot see life without him. We knew early on that we’d like to have a sibling for him. Jasper loves his big family with all his cousins. “I wish my cousins could stay for 1000 days” is his quote when they stay over. We know he’s ready for a brother or sister and know our family will be greatly enriched by another child.
