Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Maine

dear expectant mother

We’ve written this letter to you a million times in our heads, yet we still don’t have the words to express how eternally grateful we are to be a prospective family for your child. Your strength, courage, and abundant love for your child are apparent in your consideration of adoption. Please know we’re here and committed to working alongside you and supporting you the best way we know how, if you choose us.

If blessed with the honor of being chosen, your child will be raised in a loving, happy, and nurturing home. We promise to love unconditionally, support him or her always, and provide a great education and many life experiences along the way. We will be the cheerleaders during accomplishments and will listen and comfort when disappointments arise. We’re excited for our future child to have an older sister, a playmate, and a best friend for life. Maeve says her prayers every night and asks God for a baby to love and to live with us forever.

Trusting in us to adopt your child would be the most beautiful and amazing gift. We look forward to meeting and learning more about you. We pray that coming together with kindness, compassion, and communication, you will always be part of our family.

With gratitude and love,
Bradford, Jodi & Maeve

About Us

When they say opposites attract, that’s our story. Bradford was raised in the mountain/lakes region of Maine wearing L.L Bean boots. Jodi was a city girl, accomplishing her career goals in NYC before retiring her heels and returning to her roots in Maine. Both of us were skeptical when we joined an online dating app, but we’re very thankful we did. Two years from our first date, we were married and Jodi was pregnant. Although opposite in many ways, when it comes to marriage and family, we have the same morals, values, and life goals. Bradford started his own successful business a year ago, and Jodi is an event director and works from home. We have a seven-year old daughter who’s a love and keeps us on our toes. Family time is very important to us, and we’ve accomplished a great work–life balance.

Our Home & Pets

Upon entering our home, you’ll be greeted by Maeve and our dog, Bobby. We live in a four-bedroom home on the Maine coast. We have a playroom full of toys, a great backyard for adventures, and a beautiful ocean inlet in the front. We can walk to the beach, downtown to restaurants, shops, and most importantly Ben & Jerry’s. The town has a great school system and an abundance of clubs and activities from music and theater to athletics. Plus our parks and recreational programs provide unique year round activities. We can’t wait to share all these experiences with your little one. We love living in a tight-knit community and running into family and friends when we’re out.

Our Extended Family

We spend birthdays and holidays with our families. Bradford is the youngest of four children, and Jodi has three sisters. Maeve is very lucky; she has fourteen cousins (ranging from 2 to 22 years of age). We’re fortunate to have loving families, and tears of joy were shed on both sides when we told them we were adopting.

Bradford’s family camps at a lake. We hike and swim during the day, and nights include family BBQs, campfires, and occasionally a competitive game. Thanksgiving is one of our favorite traditions, with lots of food and two turkeys (one being deep fried/burnt by the men). After dinner we do a Secret Santa draw and begin plotting for the funniest, cleverest Christmas gifts.

Summer weekends with Jodi’s family are spent at the beach or boating to local islands and inlets. Many days end with a lobster or seafood dinner. Our favorite Christmas tradition as a family is searching for and cutting down our own tree, then heading to town to shop locally for new Christmas ornaments, followed by dinner and the town tree lighting. We also cherish our non-holiday traditions. Sunday dinners as a family were a must when Jodi’s mom was alive, and we still love to all gather when possible. The whole family pays tribute to her mom every year, with the grandkids releasing balloons to Nanny in heaven.

What Led Us To Adoption

Adoption was a frequent discussion early on in our relationship. Ten years ago, Bradford met his biological daughter Angelina for the first time. Through conversations, love, their infectious silliness, and their identical mannerisms, a very special father and daughter relationship was born. Angelina stood by our side as a bridesmaid when we got married and excitedly took on the role of big sister to Maeve. The sisters’ love for one another is a bond that makes our hearts melt. We did IVF and experienced multiple losses trying to have children. With heartache came healing when we talked about adoption. Our relationship with Angelina and her adoptive parents has taught us so much about family. We’ve seen firsthand how adoption works through love and kindness. It gives us hope in our adoption journey.
