dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Family is not always blood. It is the people in your life who want you in theirs, the ones who accept you for who you are, and the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what. This is what we believe makes up a family and what excites us about pursuing adoption. Our family is made up of one of the strongest and loving moms in the world, a life-of-the-party dad, and a 5-year-old energetic son.

We are excited to share our story with you and truly feel honored to be considered as potential adoptive parents. We are an active family that has had an interesting start. Between fighting and beating cancer to living apart as we completed our academic endeavors, we have a greater appreciation for the little things in life and the importance of making each day count. We believe families do not have to match each other. You do not have to look like someone else to love them. We hope you will find our story of interest and look forward to learning more about you.

About Us

We have been best friends for 10 years and married for 8 of those. We have one biological son, Kai, who is five. Jesse works as a director for a lab that studies movement, and Chantè works as a marketing director for a university hospital. Jesse is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking. Chantè is a caring and motivated mom who loves the arts and enjoys crafting, dancing, fashion, music, and equestrian riding. Kai is starting kindergarten this year and loves drawing sea creatures, riding his bike and building legos. We are a family on the go, whether it's a weeknight at the park playing with our dog Charlie or a weekend hike in our Utah mountains, we are always doing something.

Our Home

We live in a historic neighborhood in a beautifully restored 3-story home. Our streets are filled with young families and kids everywhere. We have walkable shops, grocery stores and parks that fill the sidewalks with chatter and laughter. The neighbors and community are so warm and welcoming, we have really found our happy place. We live within a mile from a University, so we are lucky to have amenities like an indoor and outdoor pool, zoo, museums, concerts, sports, etc. The school system is among the best rated in the state and is just within two blocks from our house. We would love to fill our home with another kiddo so we can provide a wonderful, supportive life for them.

Our Extended Family

We both have lots of family here in Utah. Jesse’s mom (Mama C), who is a big part of our and Kai’s life, lives within 25 minutes. His aunt and family live just down the street from us, and it’s awesome to have them that close. Chantè’s mom and sister, along with her two kids, live nearby too. Ironically enough, both our dads live in Phoenix, AZ (not sure how that happened). We usually make a trip out there once a year to visit them and enjoy some sun!

In addition to family, we have lots of friends nearby with kids whom we often get together with. Family and community are big for us. We like to make intentional efforts to be present in each other’s lives.

What Led Us To Adoption

Our favorite spot to escape the day to day is our cabin near Yellowstone National Park. Because we live in the city, it’s so nice to be able to get away to a remote location once in a while to recharge. We find ourselves up there about 4-5 times a year throughout the different seasons. There is so much outside fun to be had there. We like to partake in boating, jet skiing, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, off-roading, camp fires, family and did we mention Yellowstone! Our cabin sleeps about 8 so we always try to bring family and friends up to enjoy with us.
