dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We are so humbled that you are considering us to be the parents of your child. We have been praying for you and for your baby for so long. No matter the choice you make, we hope you are feeling comforted. We want you to feel the love and support from our family. We cannot imagine the emotions and feelings you are experiencing, but we desire for you to feel strength and power in this journey because what you are doing is nothing short of a miracle. We can only imagine how scary this process could be, but we encourage you to make the best decision for you and your baby regardless of external pressures.

If we are chosen, your baby will never doubt how loved they are. Because of your love, we could get to celebrate our biggest blessing and multiply the love in our family. We cannot wait to share and celebrate your baby in our family: built by blood, adoption, and our chosen family. Our family and friends have seen us walking through the struggle of infertility and are so excited to embrace our little family. Through your selflessness in the act of adoption, you are who we are going to be thanking every night for helping us create the life we dreamed of.

Adoption is the bright light in our journey, and we are so excited to live in that light!

Love,
Alex and Michael

About Us

Hello! We are so excited to begin this journey and would like to introduce ourselves to you. We are Alexandra (Alex) and Michael. We met online nine years ago and have been together ever since. We quickly bonded over our shared interests in swimming and music, and Alex knew Michael was the one when he shared a funny pickup line to ask her on our first date.
Alex is a bubbly, loving, gentle, and kind soul. She has always worked with kids and dreamed of having her own family one day. She loves to bake, read books in both English and Spanish, and cheer on her favorite hockey team. Michael is motivated, caring, and protective. Michael likes to spend time outdoors, work out, and coach his debate team. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and currently works as a federal law enforcement officer. Together we love to travel (specifically on road trips), play with our dogs, and play games. We always have dinners together; our favorites are Alex’s homemade pasta and risotto. Quality time is our love language, and we love to do everything together, from the simple couch veg session to complex trips!

Our Home & Pets

Our home is our comfort zone. We love spending time together in every area of the home. We have a fenced-in backyard with a garden in a quiet neighborhood with a wonderful community of neighbors. Our town offers many activities for families of all shapes and sizes and is just close enough to the city to enjoy its amenities but far enough away to enjoy space and a slower-paced lifestyle. There are parks, restaurants, and even a water park within walking distance of our house. We have two energetic and fun-loving dogs, Holly and Lincoln, who love to adventure with us! They keep us active and love to be included in our daily activities, big or small.

Our Extended Family

Alex comes from a small immediate family but has a large extended family. She enjoys getting together on the holidays with her cousins and seeing their kids grow. Her family is extremely tight knit and supportive. We love playing games, telling stories, and cooking or baking family recipes together. When Alex was growing up, her family, four cousins, an aunt and uncle, and her grandma would take a 14-hour road trip every summer to visit her great-grandma, and those trips are some of her fondest memories. Every Christmas morning, Alex’s family makes pancakes that look like Santa (whipped cream beard, cherry nose, and chocolate chip eyes), which is a tradition she cannot wait to share with her own family!

Michael has one sister, parents, and a grandpa. All of his family members live in an intergenerational household! Growing up, his grandparents lived across the street and were a big part of his childhood. He also has fond memories of cross-country road trips as a child. His family loves to travel and experience new things and places together. They are pillars of strength for each other and for anybody they meet.

What Led Us To Adoption

After learning that we will not be able to have biological children, our journey to parenthood pointed us to adoption. We have always dreamed of raising a child and are excited to expand our family and share our love with another person and another family. Alex’s grandma was adopted, so it was always on her heart to explore adoption. We have a friendship with a couple who has adopted as well. While never made official in a court, Michael recognizes his stepfather as his adoptive parent after never knowing his biological father. Being able to share in the experience of adoption within our inner circle has been a blessing!
